Currently, it seems that Quidditch may not make its appearance in the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy. There has not been any confirmation that it will be in the game, and the sport has been absent from every single trailer. The only gameplay that has players ride a broom is when they are exploring the game world. Not having Quidditch in the game that is supposed to let players live out their Harry Potter dreams seems like it could be a missed opportunity. However, if Hogwarts Legacy does not have Quidditch then another game needs to come along and deliver on the iconic sport.

The Quidditch Video Game Was a Great Time
So far, there has only been one major Quidditch focused video game and that came out in 2003. The game was titled Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, and it let players live out their Quidditch dreams. It put players in control of the Chasers and had them try to score goals with the Quaffle, and they would then be given control over the Seeker once the Snitch joined the match. The game had many issues, but it is really one of the few video games that gives players the feeling of this fast-paced sport.
There were many modes present in Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, but they all played very similarly. Players could take control of the various Hogwarts houses in the Hogwarts Inter-House Quidditch Cup, and then battle it out against another house. In the World Cup stage, players took control of a Quidditch team from across the world and competed for The Cup. Finally, there was the Exhibition mode which let players play a one-off Quidditch match in the summer or winter. Each of these modes gave players a fun-filled Quidditch experience, and they should be looked to for a future Quidditch-based video game.
It is Time for More Quidditch Video Games
It seems that Hogwarts Legacy may not have Quidditch, and that is a missed opportunity. The game is supposed to be the most in-depth Harry Potter game around, finally giving players the ability to tell their own Wizarding World story. Leaving Quidditch out of Hogwarts Legacy may hold it back from being the best that it can be in the eyes of franchise fans. If Quidditch is officially absent from Hogwarts Legacy, then there needs to be another game to pick up the slack. The last Quidditch game launched in 2003, and a new game focused on the sport is long overdue.
Quidditch is a fast-paced and high-stakes sport where players fly through the sky trying to beat the other team. It seems like the perfect sport for a video game to emulate, yet there have not been many games that have included it. Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup showed that a Quidditch video game can work well, and it should be done again. If the industry could make a fun-filled Quidditch game in 2003, then there is no reason that it could not do it again. With the advancements in hardware and video game potential, another Quidditch game could truly capture the feel of the popular sport.
It has not been confirmed if Quidditch will make an appearance in Hogwarts Legacy, and it would be a shame if it did not. Quidditch is a major part of the Harry Potter franchise, and fans of the franchise would love to be able to experience it. If Hogwarts Legacy leaves it out, then another Quidditch World Cup needs to come out as well. The sport is too much fun to be absent from the gaming industry, and fans of the franchise would sink hours into a title that featured it.
